Hospital Where Romney Staged Health Care Speech Denounces Him
Oh, this is fun. Today Mitt Romney gave a big speech attacking the universal health care proposal Hillary outlined today as socialized medicine or worse, saying that her plan shows that "she doesn't believe in the American people." Romney delivered the speech today in front of St. Vincent's Hospital in New York City.
But now the hospital is teeing off on Romney, blasting him for using it as a backdrop to push his opposition to universal health care. St. Vincent's has just released the following statement:
Today Mitt Romney, a candidate for President, held a press conference outside of St. Vincent's Hospital Manhattan without the knowledge or consent of the hospital to make a statement regarding the healthcare debate in the Presidential campaign. As a non-profit organization, St. Vincent's Hospital does not become involved in political campaigns. We find it unfortunate that Mr. Romney misappropriated the image and good will of St. Vincent's Hospital to further a political agenda. While St. Vincent's believes that there needs to be real discussion about healthcare reform and finding ways to provide coverage to the now 47 million Americans without health insurance, it is inappropriate for the hospital to be used for political gain.
Whoopsie!
Asked for comment, Romney spokesman Kevin Madden emails us: "It was a public sidewalk in front of the hospital and we did not use hospital property."

If I recall correctly, St.Vincent's is run by the Catholic Archdiocese of New York. Mitt might want to reconsider the cavalier attitude he and his staff have shown in this regard. He appears to have decided that insulting the Catholic Archdiocese of New York and the Catholics residing in New York City is just fine with Mitt Romney. Why didn't the Mittster make a trip to Salt Lake City and shoot this ad there in front of the hospital run by the LDS?

Standing on the public sidewalk still wouldn't counter the hospital's charges that they misused the hospital's image and good will.
Anyway, when NAMBLA reps start giving speeches in front of Romney's HQ, we'll see if he still feels the same way.
