Rudy Demands That New York Times Run "Discounted" Ad Praising Petraeus
Oh, this is just sad. Fox News and other right wing news outlets are attacking The New York Times today for running a "discounted" ad placed the other day by MoveOn attacking General Petraeus. The claim being made is that The Times is somehow in league with MoveOn and the rest of the shadowy left-wing conspiracy to end the war.
Now Rudy Giuliani has jumped aboard this Merry-Go-Round. At a campaign appearance today, he called on the Times to run an ad from him, at the same discounted rate, an ad praising Petraeus.
"We're going to call upon the New York Times to give us the same rate, heavily discounted rate that they gave MoveOn.org for that abominable ad that was very very coincidentally published on the day that Gen Petraeus testified," Rudy said.
It doesn't appear to matter to these folks that such discounts are standard in the industry with clients who advertise often, such as MoveOn does. It's really sad to see Rudy reduced to this, in a way.
Prediction: This story is going to crash and burn in a big way soon.

But the right and Fox news and O'Reilly won't care if it crashes and burns in that world, and it won't crash and burn in their world. They have failed at so much, but they still sometimes smell an incipient urban myth from a mile away. That myth will be that the evil liberal NY Times practically gives away ad space to "defeatocrats" but charges Republicans full freight. Everyone with half a brain will know this is bunk, but a whole buttload of people ONLY get their news from Fox on TV, and Limbaugh and Hannity on the radio, and they will believe this for years.

Yep. I don't think this story will crash and burn at all in the fantasy land Republicans call home. And what's more, no matter what the Times does, the Republinuts will be able to use it to their advantage.

That was no coincident. It was intentional; and rightly so.
Is Rudy trying to further suggest some shadowy conspiracy is at work when, in fact, people are being very upfront about what it is that they have to say.

When Rudy left the Mayor's position in NYC he still hadn't gotten NewYorkers to walk on the right side of the sidewalk as he had tried to do. We really don't need another bully brat in our government any more.
As an ex-publishing salesguy, let me tell you. The NY Times will be glad to take Rudy's money at that rate as well as anyone else who can fork it over. Just lineup and write a check, they'll be happy to take the business.
Come one, come all, there's still time to turn this Quarter into a great one for the New York Times.
