Obama Raises Over $3 Million At Oprah Winfrey Event

Oprah Winfrey's much-anticipated gala fundraiser for Barack Obama, held Saturday at her California home, was a huge success. Roughly 1,500 donors showed up, all contributing $2,300 apiece for a total of over $3 million raised at one single event.

The guest-list included Stevie Wonder, who provided musical entertainment, plus a long list of celebrities: Sidney Poitier, Forest Whitaker, Chris Rock, Cindy Crawford, Jimmy Connors, Linda Evans, Dennis Haysbert, and others — and, of course, Oprah Winfrey.

The new CBS News poll has Hillary Clinton maintaining her 20 point lead over O-Bomb-A.

Among Democratic primary voters asked their preference to be the party's nominee among the three front-runners, Clinton received 45 percent versus 25 percent for O-Bomb-A and 14 percent for Edwards.

These standings have not changed much over the summer.

Have you heard Obama speak in person? If not, don't dismiss him too fast...

More than the effect Oprah has on Obama, I would love to see what effect Obama has on Oprah. How will her GOP viewers react?

Given the GOP's small share of female voters, and its even smaller share of African-American voters, I'm not sure how many GOP viewers that Oprah actually has.

Of course, I don't know how many she has but I'm sure she does. Either the number is too small to matter, or Oprah simply doesn't care if she offends them. My guess it is the former.
