Right Wingers Go After MoveOn With New TV Ad

The right-wing astroturf group Freedom's Watch, founded a few weeks ago to be a pro-war answer to MoveOn, has a new TV spot attacking MoveOn's "Betray Us" ad in the New York Times:

"Name calling, charges of betrayal — it's despicable. It's what MoveOn shamefully does, and it's wrong," the narrator says. "America and the forces of freedom are winning. MoveOn is losing."

Swiftboating Kerry was okay? Didn't hear any protestations about dishonesty then. Even Petraeus's boss thinks he is a suckup and shill fot the prez. Need more ads from groups like MoveOn. Repubs are used to the left being afraid to offend while they use the most shameful rhetoric.

I'm a MoveOn member who was glad to contribute a small amount towards that specific NYT ad.

Let's raise the ante, even. Here's the letter I sent to my daily fishwrap yesterday, can you do something better to yours?

Trying to keep it short, I didn't even get into how we're spending more on our military than ALL OTHER NATIONS IN THE WORLD COMBINED. And our so-honorable military leaders can't even handle some towel-headed Ay-rabs in a country without water or electricity? Ask your Congressman when they'll raise THAT point in a public statement!

Dear Editor,

The letter-writers on Wednesday Sept 12 who are so concerned with defending the "honor and integrity" of Gen. Petraeus open the door to a larger and more important question.

Has the top civilian and military leadership of the American military enhanced our security over the last twenty years, or degraded our security?

I would submit that the top leaders of the American Pentagon have produced an institutional structure which prevents America from intelligently defending our actual national interests.

The top leaders of the Pentagon regularly tell lies. The top leaders of the Pentagon regularly allow, encourage, and cover-up the corruption of contractors and appropriations. The top leaders of the Pentagon fight very tenaciously to defend their own privileges, while railroading ordinary soldiers through kangaroo courts for outrageous scandals which reach the light of day; soldiers are prosecuted for offenses which were either directly ordered by the chain of command, or which were a predictable outcome of a tactical culture which prevents our soldiers from being greeted as liberators in any troubled land they may be sent to.

In my opinion, there is neither honor nor integrity in the American Pentagon of recent decades. Our national security would only be improved by a mass firing of the top 5000 military and civilian employees of the Pentagon, and finding a new culture of military leaders who are actually focused on defending America, rather than offensively fighting neo-con fantasies in foreign lands.

Waaaaaa, waaaaaa, waaaaaa!!!!!

Those GOP sissies can dish it out but they sure can't take it can they? Poor lil boys, maybe they need to call their momma's huh? And this isn't particularly tuff stuff either.

Imagine what all those whiners would do if the Democrats calling the shots had the balls to fight em for once instead of shivering in their boots. Those Republican bullyboys would probably be reduced to tears and the whole world could see what hides behind the authoritarian facade of the macho GOP crowd.

LMAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That's rich, a radical right-wing calling a centrist organization extreme left-wing.
