Report: Rudy's Close Ally Bernie Kerik To Be Indicted
Just in from the New York Daily News:
Bernard Kerik's legal nightmare is about to get worse, with federal prosecutors expected to file charges against the former police commissioner that will likely include allegations of bribery, tax fraud and obstruction of justice, the Daily News has learned. The indictment, expected next month, could prove to be an embarrassing obstacle for Kerik's former mentor Rudy Giuliani, who is cruising at the top of the polls heading into the presidential primary gauntlet.
Lest this get forgotten, it's worth remembering that Rudy personally advocated for this fellow to be the chief of Homeland Security -- that is, to be the chief defender of our nation against what Rudy terms the Terrorists' War on Us.

I think this is an example of what some call Karma.

He consorts with Kerik who is so mobbed up there is no way Giuliani would not be aware. He shamelessly exploits the tragedy of 9/11, trumpeting his own heroic role (forget for a moment how he wants quickly to build over the unexcavated remains of the 9/11 dead; how he himself ordered the command center to be placed in 9/11, how he lies over his visiting the 9/11 site). He is a true Republican...all image, ready to slime everyone else. My understanding is these are the same fine personal traits that brought Mussolini to power.

It sounds like Kerik is being offered a deal with the Feds;which usually means that he has to have something to offer in exchange for reducing time in prison to mere fines.Kerik does not impress me as the type of person who would take the "hit: for Rudy and quietly do his time rather than "dropping a dime" and telling all to save himself.

Let's remember that Kerik is not just an embarrassment for Giuliani, but another one for the entire Republican establishment. What a long, long list it is!

And don't forget that Kerik used an apartment donated for 9/11 recovery efforts (overlooking Ground Zero) for sex affairs. Giuliani is also godfather to Kerik's children - I wonder if Giuliani abandoned them too?
