Tancredo Retiring From Congress
Congressman Tom Tancredo (R-CO) has announced that he will not be running again for his seat in the House.
"It's the fact that I really believe I have done all I can do in the House, especially about the issue about which I care greatly," Tancredo said.
Tancredo's suburban Denver district gave 60% of its vote to President Bush in 2004, and is expected to remain in Republican hands.

Good riddance. He sees that he cannot do any more substantial damage to the country whilst in Congress, so he's leaving. We will not have to hear his bigoted rhetoric anymore. Perhaps he will join a Republican Sink Tank.

So after the nomination is decided in mid-February of next year we will still have Tancredo and Ron Paul going on. I am sure the GOP looks forward to that.
The reason there are so many GOP retirees from the House is that it is tough to go from majority to minority status. If you go back to the 1994-1996 time period you will find that there was a large number of Democratic members of the House who retired as well after they lost majority status.
My guess is that he's retiring because he'll be getting out at the top of the game - his name recognition will be very high. So he'll be able to capitalize on that - striking while the iron is hot. In this sense, running for President is basically a way to ratchet up his star quotient, and therefore make more money. See also: Duncan Hunter.

THAT'S right. Traditional marriage must be promoted because we need to ensure a steady supply of cannon fodder and fillers of the pork barrel. 300 million people (and counting) just isn't enough; 4 million births per year (nearly twice the number of deaths) isn't enough. And somehow the government's promotion of traditional marriage will lead to more babies being born? and to fewer of those babies turning out gay?
