Feingold And Kohl: Still Undecided On Mukasey
Two key votes on the Senate Judiciary Committee are still undecided on the nomination of Michael Mukasey for Attorney General. Sen. Russ Feingold (D-WI) is on the fence, and a spokesman for Sen. Herb Kohl (D-WI) confirmed to Election Central that the votes of both Wisconsin Senators are still up in the air.

Not that this is ridiculous as the the rep from Alaska chairing Ways and Means for so long but doesn't it strike anyone else as a little odd?

He's a fairly reliable liberal vote, but in many ways is a cipher. He has a lot of money (owns the Milwaukee Bucks; donated enough money to the University of Wisconsin to get his name on a brand new basketball arena about 5 or 6 years ago). He keeps winning re-election based on our sometimes proclivity to elect empty suits like him (like that idiot Tommy Thompson - 16 year governor).

And, since it was despite the accusations that this guy will continue the torture policy of this administration, Bush and his apologists will, both, smear the Democrats as being "weak on the war on terrorism," and, use this confirmation as proof that the Democrats supported torture, just like the Rethuglicans, when the next scandal about it comes out.
It's as predictable as a sunset.

Do what's right guys!!!!
WI Resident wrote on November 2, 2007 5:45 PM:Kohl is a former owner of "Kohl's." He is quietly gay. Pretty low key in the Senate, I think. Doesn't take special interest money and his slogan is "nobody's senator, but yours."
OOOpps... hope I didn't spill the beans on his gayness!
Very frugal guy. In Milwaukee he eats breakfast at the cheapest cafe chain in town.
I've never heard negative things from people who's interacted with him, not that I get around much anyway.
As for Feingold, I know someone who knew him in highschool and felt he was a straight shooter even then.

He's one of those Bankruptcy Bill democrats though, and I believe his vote on Alito sums him up - he said he would vote no for Alito, but voted to end debate when the votes weren't there supporting his supposed "opposition", this enabling the guy to get confirmed. I retain the physical memory of a dozen disappointments in the guy.
