Flashback: Rudy Attacked Ron Paul For Blaming America For 9/11

Today 9/11 hero Rudy accepted the endorsement of Pat Robertson despite the fact that Robertson agreed that America "deserved" to be hit by the attack.

In light of that, we thought it would be a good idea to remind you all of this moment from a recent GOP Presidential debate, in which Rudy aggressively attacked GOP Presidential candidate Ron Paul for saying that America's foreign policies were to blame for 9/11:

Note that Rudy said of Paul's comments the following:

"I don't think I've ever heard that before...I would ask the Congressman to withdraw that comment and tell us that he didn't really mean that."

Actually, Rudy has heard something similar to that before. And far from asking the fellow who said it to withdraw his comment, today Rudy cheerfully accepted his endorsement. Go figure.

In light of that, it's instructive to watch the vid and ponder the extreme umbrage and outrage that poured forth from Rudy here. Pretty unsettling, really. Or at least it should be.

Mr. Mayor has not been the last bastion of consistency or truth in this campaign so far. Maybe they damaged his memory when he was treated for his colon cancer.

I see the makings of a good campaign commercial for the dems in the general. What a buffoon. I hope Mr. 9/11 gets the repuke nod. It will be a very entertaining election and he will be trounced. I still don't think that he gets the nod though. He is way to much of a moron, even for repuke voters.

Unlike many pundits, at least that fool mobster had the good sense to identify Ron Paul as a serious competitor early. Unfortunately for him, his bud-nipping shears were stale.

You silly.

It's one thing to blame America's elite ruling class' foreign policy mistakes for 911, quite another to blame fags.

Jeez.

Not paying much attention, are you?

Uncle Chuckles said we deserved it because of our lax attitude towards the issues he obsesses over: gay marriage and homosexuality, secular humanism, etc.

Dr. Paul said we were attacked because of a flawed foreign policy and the actions that came from it. Not that we deserved it, and not because of lifestyle choices.

They really are completely different things.

That being said, Judy Annie just got the Kiss of Death by getting an endorsement from that senile lunatic Robertson.

Who's taking bets as to whether the MSM will let Rudy get away with this most recent hypocrisy? Of course, he CAN'T say anything to Paul, as that would expose ROBERTSON'S hypocrisy.

You know that "stupid girl" video that's circulating right now? We need one for "stupid hypocrite."

Greg wrote on November 7, 2007 3:22 PM:

there's no question that the two are different. but the hypocrisy charge holds, because Robertson's comments are way worse than Paul's are. And Rudy tried to portray Paul's assertion as nothing but blaming America.

Paulie wrote on November 7, 2007 3:32 PM:

Another schmuck that will do anything or say anything to get elected. Are we (collectively) so stupid that we keep accepting this hypocrisy and putting douchebags like this in office? Oy!

'We' aren't so stupid. We didn't vote yet. The corporate polls are lying to us, so they can cover whom they want to.

Actually, Rudy infered that Ron Paul blamed Americans for 9/11 and used that to attack him. In reality Ron Paul blamed foreign policy. Robertson blamed Americans and their behavior. So... Rudy accepts Robertson's idea that Americans WERE to blame but cannot acknowledge Ron Paul's idea that foreign policy had anything to do with it.... hmmm

Oh and Rudy apparently endorsed or was personaly involved in torturing Americans involved in criminal cases he was prosecuting. Think any of these cases will be re-tried? Does anyone even care? I sure hope we take notice when a presidential candidate infers that he was involved in some way with torturing Americans on American soil. And don't forget we are not talking about terrorists here. Oh no, it was 'the mob'.

I wonder if John McCain will still shake his hand...

It makes me warm and fuzzy all over when these things come out.

Ron Paul 2008! - The only choice!

I bet mccain would be winning to give satan a blow job if he could be presnit

lets face it, just selling his soul to satan hasn't worked out, so mccain is looking for a long term commitment from the prince of darkness

Yessir!!

I think the "establishment" is trying to give the true conservative party such a bad name that everyone will want to vote for anything other than Republican. And while this may be true in most respects, when it comes to Ron Paul, and a handful of others, there is an exception to the rule.

MSM is trying to cram Hillary down our throats thus extending the two family Aristocracy (Bush and Clinton) that has plagued this country for the past twenty years.

We need a change.

I quote Ghouliani directly:
"Freedom is about authority. Freedom is about the willingness of every single human being to cede to lawful authority a great deal of discretion about what you do. You have free speech so I can be heard. "

Rudy oversaw police brutality at its worst, Abner Louima. He stood by the Police even though they were wrong.

Rudy was in charge when 9/11 happened. That's not a good thing.

Rudy said it was safe to come back and many people were exposed to poisonous WTC dust.

Rudy Ghouliani is simply a bad man. He is also a career gun grabbing autocratic non-constitutionalist.

If Rudy knew the constitution, he would know as a Knight Commander , Order of the British Empire (KBE), he is forbidden to be President per: Article 1, Section 9, Clause 8

"No Title of Nobility shall be granted by the United States: And no Person holding any Office of Profit or Trust under them, shall, without the Consent of the Congress, accept of any present, Emolument, Office, or Title, of any kind whatever, from any King, Prince or foreign State."

Also, the "missing 13th amendment," which was surely to be ratified (By Virginia, they did in 1819 but it was too late since 2 more states had joined) - but DC was destroyed in a fire set be they British during the war of 1812: (I am not claiming this law is on the books and in effect, but you'll see how the US detested foreign titles).

"If any citizen of the United States shall accept, claim, receive or retain any title of nobility or honour, or shall, without the consent of Congress accept and retain any present, pension, office or emolument of any kind whatever, from any emperor, king, prince or foreign power, such person shall cease to be a citizen of the United States and shall be incapable of holding any office of trust or profit under them, or either of them. "

But I guess the title is "honorary" so he skates past the law by bending it. The missing 13th amendment was clear on this issue about honorary being just as bad - since it isn’t considered ratified there is no recourse, but if you want a window into the framers intent, there you have it.

RUDOLPH GIULIANI the people of New York plenty of reasons to hate him during his eight long years as mayor of New York City. But he left office at the end of last year a hero.

Time magazine named him 2001’s "Person of the Year"--for his performance in front of the cameras after the September 11 attack on the World Trade Center.

Giuliani may have come off as a human being during the tragedy. But his record as mayor tells a different story -- that he helped to wreck the lives of thousands of people with eight years of racist, and anti-poor policies and his unwavering support for New York’s Police even when they were wrong (gun grabbing, constant unjustified use of deadly force, confiscating cars for street racing, etc).

New York schools have become some of the most overcrowded and run-down in the country. But Giuliani scapegoated teachers, refusing to raise their salaries even minimally without "merit pay." In 1995, he slashed the budget for the City University of New York --and then had police attack students who dared to protest.

When transit workers prepared to go on strike in December 1999, Giuliani threatened workers with jail for just using the word "strike" -- and a daily $25,000 fine if they walked. (Strikes and Unions and peaceful assembly are still legal.)

Giuliani used "Quality of Life" laws to go after taxi drivers, street vendors, protesters, bicyclists -- and basically anyone who showed signs of being poor.
"Streets do not exist in civilized societies for the purpose of people sleeping there," Time’s Person of the Year once sneered. "Bedrooms are for sleeping."

But Giuliani’s most enduring legacy may be his support for racial profiling and police brutality. From the hideous torture of Abner Louima in 1997 and the murder of Amadou Diallo in a hail of 41 bullets in 1999, Giuliani relentlessly supported the NYPD despite the corruption.

At the same time, Giuliani showered massive tax breaks on Wall Street and the corporations. Corporate media outlets like Time may pay tribute to this monster. But Giuliani’s real legacy is eight years of racist scapegoating and police-state terror and attacks on education.

Rudy also, until September 2007, was a Rabid gun-grabber and authoritarian who fully supported the dismantling of the Second Amendment to the Bill of Rights.

And for those who claim Rudy cleaned up New York, I'm sorry, but gentrification trends and the crime-decrease trend had already started before Rudy took office. Many cities at the same time were gentrifying the same way New York did. They crime was reduced simply by pricing everyone out of New York.

Make no mistake, this guy is a real hard-core authoritarian, and you do not have any freedom under Rudy.

Shove your brand of authority up your ass, Rudy. Shove it good.
