Romney Brings Out Another Anti-McCain Ad, On Immigration

Mitt Romney has another attack ad in New Hampshire against John McCain. This time, Romney goes right after McCain on the issue that caused his opponent so much trouble throughout this year — illegal immigration:

Meanwhile, McCain has his own ad, bringing up those newspaper anti-endorsements against Romney. With New Hampshire turning into a strict two-man race, and a pretty mean-spirited one at that, the next week and a half should be fun.

There is one thing about all of this at least with John McCain you know where he stands on all the issues which is more than you can say for Mitt Romney.

All the Romney ads about McCain only make Romney look desperate. Although the group of anti immigration folks is far smaller than those who want a sensible work program, who think it is UNGODLY to ship parents of US citizens back to their original country, who tie the immigration problem not with illegal immigrants but rather, with our lack of legal work programs, even as they scream the loudest. However, most Americans want a fair and legal method for workers to come to our country to work, perhaps an updated program such as the Bracero Program in the 50s and 60s. Although there were problems with the system, it can be redone by updating it.

It is so disgusting that issues such as immigration cannot be discussed on the basis of facts, and not by this gotcha mentality that Romney has stooped to.

It's time for Romney to shape us. He should be emphasizing that he has been running contrast ads, not negative ads. OK, he sometimes says that. But he should add that the only thing negative about them is that they are perceived as such by those whose past records are being exposed.
