New Rudy Ad Features Bhutto Footage, Warns Of Death At Hands Of Radical Muslims

Rudy Giuliani has a new ad in New Hampshire and Florida, the only two January states left that he's contesting. The ad's message is simple, and shows just how blatant the Rudy campaign has become in their appeals to fear — that if we don't vote for Rudy, we'll be vulnerable to Osama Bin Laden, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, the people who assassinated Benazir Bhutto, and every other radical Muslim villain out there:

Awesome!

The only hint I had that it was a parody was when the guy doing the voiceover mentioned that OBL is still around. If they had left that out, I might have assumed it was a real Rudy ad.

Wow! I watched Rudy for 8 yrs as NYC Mayor and he has never seemed as desparate as now. Why did this guy ever think he could withstand the scrutiny of a national campaign? It has been really fun to watch him implode, though.

Seriously, that was very disturbing to me. If that fascist ever gets to White House, god helps us all. And I really, really, really want to know who is going to watch this ad and say to themselves "Oh, yes. I am voting for Giuliani". I think even the reddest, most inbred asshole will find it racist, predatory and just f*cking bizarre without any attempt at subtlety.

This is why we have to nominate Obama!!!! He will give Rudy a SMACKDOWN of monumental proportions.

NCSteve wrote on January 2, 2008 6:30 PM:

Great. Mere fearmongering doesn't get it done for them anymore, so rather than experimenting with, oh, say, sanity, Rudy escalates up to fear porn.

The intonation of the final sentence is rather odd. After chronicling in ominous tones all of the many and varied reasons to wet ourselves everytime someone, somewhere in the world says "Allah," there's something in the way he way he says the line:

"America needs a leader who's ready"

that sounds almost cheerful to me. It makes it sound as though Rudy's actually looking forward to armed mayhem.

It just struck me as odd.

You know, it remains a total mystery how the Democrats let the Republicans turn "Osama bin laden is still on the loose because the Republican-Controlled government let him escape" into "Because Osama in still on the loose, you have to vote Republican or you'll die."

This is what happens when you let their talking points go unchallenged. When you agree with them that today we're safer than we were before 9/11. When you refuse to admit it was a strategic error to give up on Osama bin laden and go after Saddam and his nonexistent WMDs.

They've been the ruling party for 8 years. Osama bin laden remains a threat BECAUSE of the Republican president.

You know, the Republicans made hay off of "who lost China" for decades, in spite of the fact that it wasn't the Democrats' fault. Think maybe it's time to return the favor, with a little "Who lost Osama?" Especially, um, since it IS their fault?

How nice to see so many comments from folks normally at each other's throats around here together again against a common threat. Goes to show, as difficult as this primary has been in some ways, it won't take us long to rally behind whoever the nominee is. Shit like this ad is so beyond horrific I suspect no enduring grudge against the candidate who beat our favored one will last long.

If the Daily Show were around, they would have to do pitifully little with this ad to make it roll-on-the-floor, pee-in-your-pants funny. It's a satire of itself, for godsakes!

And why was I hearing Fox? It was entirely accidental...

Giuliani's ad (if in fact it's been released is not pleasant, but certainly is very accurate. The United States has been under attack from a significant portion of the Muslim/Arab world for a long time now, which includes a large number of the Saudi Arabian leadership, which has been funding most of the attacks.

The negative reaction in the many of the comments above is interesting. Are they denying that 9/11 ever occurred or do they think that it can never occur again? Is it just because it's a Giuliani ad and if one of the other candidates (especially a Democrat) said the same things in an ad would their reactions be different?

It would be nice if we could pretend that we are not in a protracted conflict with certain Arab groups, but it would be a serious error. And to a real extent the conflict is about how the Arab world can best position itself as it's oil resources become depleted. I several European countries Arabs have already been demanding semi-autonomy and separate laws for their communities.

2. Maybe it was later when we overthrew their Democratic Government in Iran to install the Shah so we could steal their oil?

3. Maybe it was earlier when we took away the Palestinian Lands and gave it to the Jews who had been prosecuted in Europe by Germans?

4. Could it have possibly been when we helped a Brutal Dictator named Saddam Hussein until he started to trade Oil in Euro's instead of Dollars?

5. How about when we promoted the Mujadeen in Afghanistan as a religous group to fight the infidel Russians and then turned them over to the Taliban?

6. Or just maybe it could have been when we invaded Iraq - you remember WMD and that sort of thing, killed over a million of them to steal their Oil?

7. Gosh why do you imagine those nasty towelheads dislike us? After all the good deeds we have done for them and after all the good treatment we have afforded since medival times you would think they would love us.
