The Kerry-Obama Embrace
From The New York Times's description of the Kerry-Obama endorsement event in South Carolina today:
When the two men embraced, beneath magnolia trees at a sun-splashed rally that drew a sea of people here, it brought the relationship of the men full circle.
Getting hot in here...
TPM Reader HS, who sent this one in, says that this shows that the "feminizing Obama" process is well underway.
I don't know about that, but I will say that the description does call to mind all those pics of Kerry and Edwards embracing that were all over Drudge after Edwards was announced as Veep candidate in 2004.
Separately, speaking of lame media coverage, The Politico's editors published a big mea culpa today about the failures of themselves and the rest of the political media in the run-up to the New Hampshire primary. Our take on it is here.

"Feminizing obama," come on, that is a total stretch. It was a silly statement written by a reporter of clinton's hometown paper the NY times, but "feminizing"???? Give me a break.

I agree Michael.
In fact, the only one I see doing that is Greg. And that's a pattern I've noticed going back awhile. Bloggers bashing the media for pushing stupid storylines while pushing those same storylines just as much themselves, if not more so.

I just want to know does this mean Obama will sell us out the way Kerry did.

Speaking of journalistic nonsense bordering on gibberish, I point to Greg's comments earlier about Maureen Dowd's "fake dateline" in her on-target hit on Hillary's Sob Story. Does Greg imagine Dowd was never in New Hampshire? Was "Derry, NH" followed by a date? Was Dowd guilty of not hitting Send until her plane landed and she could link to the Internet in Israel? (Shocked! I'm shocked!) I suppose from HRC's viewpoint, desperate times call for desperate tactics: Andrew Cuomo's "shuck and jive," Obama's Kindergarten Papers, "My Sob Story," to say nothing of "South Side of Chicago." We will see more, and it will all redound on HRC. Sorry to see Greg is a such a willing, to say nothing of unsubtle, soulmate in the desperation. Speaking of geographical confusion, are you sure it's Horse's Mouth, and not some other exit?

The NH debacle was entirely the media's fault. This analysis here makes it clear that there were enough clues in the polls that something could happen that there was no reason for the media to treat the race as they did.

Obama was forever feminized when Oprah got all her icky estrogen all over him. Have a butt grabbing hug with Kerry actually butched him up a bit.

Why all these losers (Lamont, Kerry, Bradley) endorsing Obama? Do they have something in common?

I don't know, Anonymous.
Why did McGovern, Mondale, and Dukakis endorse HRC?

While we're on the feminizing theme you could characterize Kerry's endorsement of Obama in John Edwards birth state a good old-fashioned bitch slap.

Kerry just won't go away, will he?...
This endorsement/embrace of Obama has little to do with Obama. It is all about Kerry's insatiable quest for relevance. It is over John, so please just go away! You had and blew it, buddy.

While I think Kerry's endorsement will be a minor help in infrastructure and with core Dems. Anecdotally, the Republican leaners that I know were very very derisive of it, saying they no longer could 'support' Obama. He's suddenly, 'polarizing.' So ends New Politics.
